The Twente Gay Choir

Moin! Welcome on our webpage. 

Soorten & Maten* is the first and only gay men's chorus from Twente, the Dutch region around Enschede (NL) next to the German border. Currently the choir has 15 singers, from Enschede, Hengelo, de Lutte, Oldenzaal and Eibergen: 4 high tenors, 4 low tenors, 4 baritones and 3 basses. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings above the gay café Stonewall in Enschede.

The repertoire mainly consists of 3- or 4-part songs with piano accompaniment. And it is very diverse: from classical songs for male voice choir to musical and pop.

This year Soorten & Maten will turn 10 years old and that will be celebrated in a grand way. We will kick off on Friday evening April 11th 2025 with the festive birthday concert DURVEN DROMEN (Dare to Dream) in theater Concordia in Enschede. But this concert has already been sold out.

*) The name Soorten & Maten is a wordplay. Literally translated it means 'Sorts & Sizes'. (Our men come in all sorts and sizes😉). But in Dutch Maten is also 'mates', and 'musical bars'.
